On May 16, 2025, The International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and Professor Jimmy Liu's iMED team from the Southern University of Science and Technology jointly launched a new "AI + Discipline" course titled "AI + Education: Ushering in a New Era of Education". The course was officially released on the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) platform.

This course focuses on the deep integration of artificial intelligence and education, drawing on Professor Liu Jiang's extensive research in Educational Intelligence and interdisciplinary teaching. It aims to equip educators worldwide with the knowledge and tools to understand how AI is reshaping instructional design, optimizing the allocation of educational resources, and driving equity and innovation in education. The course is available as a micro-certification on the IIOE platform and is open to global learners free of charge.

Course Introduction

This course explores the deep integration and innovative applications of artificial intelligence in the field of education, with a focus on five key areas: the restructuring of pedagogy theories, curriculum development, textbook content management, transformation of teaching practices, and optimization of course evaluation. Drawing upon extensive experience in AI research and educational reform, the course offers a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and practical pathways through which AI empowers education.

Centered on the concept of Educational Intelligence, the course systematically examines how AI reshapes instructional design, facilitates the construction of personalized learning pathways, and enables intelligent optimization of resource allocation and educational equity. Through a combination of technological evolution analysis and case-based exploration, it investigates the role of deep learning in content generation and student assessment, evaluates AI’s effectiveness in adaptive curriculum design, and highlights its breakthroughs in digital textbook management and intelligent teaching support. Learners will acquire essential knowledge of educational AI technologies and their real-world applications, gain a deep understanding of the paradigm shifts driven by AI in pedagogy, and enhance their ability to integrate intelligent tools into instructional design, curriculum planning, and learning assessment.
