Launch of MAXHUB Smart Classroom at UPM
On 27 May 2025, the MAXHUB Smart Classroom Launching Ceremony was successfully held at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). YB Tuan Haji Manndzri bin Haji Nasib, Chairman of RISDA, representing YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Minister of Rural and Regional Development, and Chairman of National TVET Council; YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, Vice Chancellor of UPM; Mr. WAN Yiming, Vice President and General Manager of Global Business, Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronic Technology Company Limited; Mr. CAO Zian, Chief of the Global Partnership and Programme Office, UNESCO-ICHEI; Mr. TANG Xiangzheng, Chief Technology Officer of the Smart Classroom Project; and other representatives attended the event.

YB Tuan Haji Manndzri bin Haji Nasib stressed the importance of leveraging and promoting technological solutions, such as smart classrooms, to support teaching and learning, especially in the TVET field. YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah recognized the Smart Classroom Project as an exemplary model of how multilateral cooperation can drive meaningful advancements in higher education. The Project was led and coordinated by UNESCO-ICHEI and implemented at UPM, with MAXHUB sponsoring software and hardware equipment and supporting installation, while the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) provided technical support.

Mr. Wan Yiming highlighted that MAXHUB is committed to offering scalable display and recording solutions for institutions at all stages of digital transformation. The Smart Classroom project is a testament to the fruitful collaboration among MAXHUB, UPM, UNESCO-ICHEI and the Southern University of Science and Technology, supporting digital learning in Malaysia. In the future, four parties and other stakeholders in Malaysia will work together to create an ecosystem where learning is accessible, interactive, and inspiring. Mr. Teoh Kay Teng, MAXHUB Malaysia Local Representative, introduced the Smart Classroom components and functions.

UNESCO-ICHEI, in collaboration with MAXHUB and other partners, offers a wide range of training resources, including TVET courses, on the IIOE platform to empower higher education professionals with digital and AI skills. Moving forward, UNESCO-ICHEI, UPM and MAXHUB will enhance their cooperation to maximize the utilization of the Smart Classroom and IIOE resources, in support of the effective implementation of diverse training programmes for higher education students, educators, leaders and government officials.

MAXHUB Smart Classroom at UPM was completed and initially put into use in April 2024, providing a digital teaching environment for localized innovative teaching practices. To date, nearly 600 teachers and students have benefited from it. This discussion-based smart classroom consists of interactive flat panels, a recording system, a smart podium, terminals for students, and interactive software for course teaching. It enables functions such as teaching interaction, course recording and sharing, and supports students in bringing their own devices to join courses.
