A delegation of HUST in Vietnam visited ICHEI
On May 20, 2024, the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) received a delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Vietnam. The delegation was led by Prof. Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of the University Council. Other delegation members included Prof. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice President, Prof. Vu Van Yem, Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Prof. Ta Hai Tung, Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology, and Prof. Chu Manh Hung, Associate Director of the Department of Partnership and Engagement. Prof. Li Ming, Secretary-General of International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) Secretariat, UNESCO-ICHEI, Ms. Bi Xiaohan, Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, and other representatives from UNESCO-ICHEI, Ms. Long Jing, Associate Director of SUSTech Global, and other representatives from SUSTech Global participated in the meeting. The visit of the delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Vietnam this time is a follow-up visit to the UNESCO-ICHEI's first visit to the university in Vietnam in April.

UNESCO-ICHEI held talks with the delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Ms. Bi Xiaohan, Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, welcomed the delegation's visit, thanked them for quick cooperation progress after the last meeting, and hoped to jointly build Hanoi University of Science and Technology into a model cooperation for Vietnamese university partners. Prof. Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of the University Council, thanked the UNESCO-ICHEI for its warm and friendly reception, introduced the number of teachers and students, education and teaching situation, and overall development trends of the university, and looked forward to international cooperation with Chinese higher education institutions in the fields of education and scientific research.

Mr. SIT Fung, Chief of IIOE management centre, introduced the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), Micro-Certification Programme, Smart Classroom Programme, and CLOUD. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation areas and agreed to cooperate in the Smart Classroom, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Series Teacher Training C, and IIOE Micro-Certification Programme.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has reached an agreement to join the IIOE Network with the UNESCO-ICHEI, and will sign a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UNESCO-ICHEI and SUSTech, including teacher digital competency development, course co-development, international student exchange, and scientific research cooperation. After the meeting, the delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology visited the IIOE AI Lab at the UNESCO-ICHEI.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) was established in 1956 and is directly under the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. It is a member of the Vietnamese National Key University Group and one of the top universities in the field of engineering and technology in Vietnam. Hanoi University of Science and Technology has five colleges, eight research institutes, and five research centers. About 25,000 undergraduate and about 5,000 graduate students are on campus, and more than 1,250 faculty members, more than half of whom have doctoral degrees. |
