UNESCO-ICHEI and BGI College Have Reached Strategic Cooperation
On March 26th, UNESCO-ICHEI signed a strategic cooperation agreement with BGI College. The two sides will engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as the co-construction of course resources in life sciences, agriculture and the joint development of micro-certification/micro-courses to promote the integrated development of life sciences and education innovation. Bi Xiaohan, Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, and Xiao Minfeng, Deputy Dean of BGI College, signed the agreement at the meeting.
Wang Ying, Education Consultant of BGI Group, welcomed the visit of the UNESCO-ICHEI delegation and pointed out that the two sides have a high degree of compatibility in innovative education concepts and complementary channels in international cooperation. Relying on its accumulation in the field of life sciences, BGI College will work with UNESCO-ICHEI to explore new directions in biological intelligence and create a sustainable development model of project-based learning.
Li Ming, Secretary General of the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) Secretariat, UNESCO-ICHEI, stated that cooperation with BGI College fills the gap in the life sciences and agriculture on the IIOE platform. He looks forward to carrying out project cooperation in international alliance building, micro certificate/micro course content construction, teacher training, smart classroom upgrading and creating standards related to life sciences.
Lu Jie, Vice Dean of BGI College, introduced the curriculum structure, including general, major and capacity certification courses. The cooperation will start with the general courses to enhance learners' awareness through core theories + key technologies, introductions + cases.
At the strategic implementation level, Bi Xiaohan, Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, made arrangements to ensure the influence of the micro certificate project by collecting feedback from national centres, joint certification, and planning press conferences. In terms of infrastructure, based on the 16 smart classrooms deployed in partner universities, the life science laboratory will be built. Regarding standard setting and the Pioneer Case Award, UNESCO-ICHEI will share its UNESCO network and jointly plan activities.
Through this strategic partnership, leveraging BGI College's global influence in life sciences and UNESCO-ICHEI's educational resource network, the collaboration will cultivate professional talents in developing countries to advance the global implementation of the "Health, Beauty, and Longevity" vision. This directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Moving forward, both parties will continue to explore new frontiers in biological intelligence, injecting scientific momentum into sustainable development.
BGI College was established in 2011 and committed to establishing an innovative education model that complements current life science education. Through international cooperation with high-level universities, BGI College carries out innovative teaching at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels and cultivates leading talents that can lead the progress of life sciences and the development of strategic emerging industries. Based on the latest cutting-edge scientific research progress, BGI College carries out training in genomics and popular science education in the field of life sciences and cultivates new types of talents who meet the requirements of economic and social development.
