Sheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University (formerly the Virtual University of Senegal) was established in 2013 with the aim of ensuring equitable access to higher education. The university adopts a blended learning model, combining in-person instruction with online training through physical terminals known as Open Digital Spaces (Espaces Numériques Ouverts, ENO). Over the past decade, UN-CHK has become a key player in Senegal’s higher education sector and a leading national institution for digital education and training. Its ENOs feature co-working spaces and foster a nationwide ecosystem that supports creativity, innovation, and high-level digital entrepreneurship. These spaces create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for young people—particularly young women.
